Last week we launched Oxford Cancer – a new pan-divisional network established to support researchers across the city of Oxford who are working in multiple disciplines to solve challenges in cancer research.
The inspiration behind this launch is the 900+ cancer researchers based across the University and Hospitals Foundation Trust. These individuals come from a wide variety of areas, with academic strengths in topics such as immunology, data science, cell biology, physical science & drug development.
What unites them all is the desire to ameliorate the global burden of cancer by through the application of their world leading scientific and technological discoveries. It is Oxford Cancer’s goal to facilitate this through enabling multidisciplinary collaborations that links and leverages Oxford’s array of unique research assets and expertise for which Oxford is globally known.
This was the inspiration for our new logo –to highlight Oxford’s cancer researchers efforts to work together from across disciplines and to translate their discoveries into better care for cancer patients.

Oxford Cancer is academically led by strategic Directors Professor Mark Middleton and Professor Tim Elliott.
Oxford Cancer manages a range of facilities and services that support Oxford cancer researchers in applying their discoveries for patient benefit. This includes cutting edge research facilities such as the Translational Histopathology Lab, funding opportunities through the CRUK Oxford Centre Development Fund, studentships and fellowships through the DPhil in Cancer Science programme, and the chance to help your work reach its translational potential through the Clinical Positioning Network.
Behind these services is a team of dedicated individuals, whose aim it is to facilitate a multidisciplinary cancer research strategy and provide researchers with the tools needed to deliver it.
