Paul Dillien

Experience: Oesophageal Cancer

Paul’s Experience

I was diagnosed with cancer in my oesophagus in 2014, and following three cycles of neoadjuvant chemotherapy I underwent an operation. I was not recommended any post-operative treatment by the consultant and now, over five years later, I am fit and well with no noticeable side-effects.

Experience with Cancer Research

I have no previous experience of volunteering.

I recently retired from a career in marketing electronics and believe that I can understand and interpret science-based technical arguments. I believe my experiences in the work place would be useful in translating medical material for a wider audience.

It is my hope that I can help spread awareness and understanding for research activities into the prevention and treatment of all types of cancer to minimise the suffering of both patients and their loved ones.
