Each year, Oxford Cancer advertises 40-50 projects and appoints up to 15 clinicians, medical undergraduates and graduates in biological science and STEM to our DPhil programme.
In order to diversify the training and multidisciplinary on-course experience for our non-clinical DPhil students and to stimulate interdepartmental collaborations, we are introducing first year lab rotations for our non-clinical students. These rotations will consist of two 6-month periods in different research groups and will provide students with a broad base of experience and the opportunity to explore different aspects of research. It will enable them to make an informed choice for the main 3 years of their DPhil. Clinician and Medical Undergraduate students will continue to be enrolled directly onto 3-year projects.
Cancer researchers from across City who are interested in supervising a student/fellow are invited to submit their project ideas. Examples of previous projects can be found in the Project Booklet tab on our Study page.
When completing your application, you will be asked to summarise a 3-year DPhil research project and stipulate which track of applicant would be suitable for your project. This is necessary for projects for which non-clinical students are eligible, who will initially only be committing to a 6 -month rotation.
The deadline for 2024 project submissions is midday on Friday 30th June 2023. If you are interested in hosting a DPhil in Cancer Science student please contact us.
