  • Challenge: Making the most of health data

The Oxford-led Randomised Evaluation of Covid-19 Therapy (RECOVERY) trial is the first to gather outcome data at scale through routine NHS electronic data flows and digital repositories. Oxford resources are applying these capabilities to high-impact cancer studies. Our researcher's approaches enable the efficient and rapid readout of clinical outcomes at scale for patients on a range of studies, and in the long-term, delivering comprehensive primary/secondary care records and life-long follow up for discovery research. In the first instance this will include linking the electronic records of patients whose samples are part of the S:CORT programme S:CORT’s broad multi-omic data with long-term follow-up and clinical data to generate new insights. This work is providing a strong basis for expanding routine data capture and informing further clinical trial and experimental medicine studies from across Oxford and the UK.
